Seeing the cantina scene in Star Wars as a child was a watershed moment for me. I looked at the motley crew of freaks and degenerates and weirdos and heroes having fun and looking to be productive and I wanted to go to there. I devoured Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ben Bova, Clifford D. Simak, Harry Harrison, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Alan Dean Foster, J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, and more.

But I enjoyed a largely solitary science fiction and fantasy escapism. I attended a new school almost every year and, while adventurers meeting in a tavern might easily tell one another everything of importance, I didn't really feel like my peers were likely to want to hear about my peculiar interests. And then I got to high school and sexuality and I moved to a country where I couldn't read the language of the local bookstores' books.

And I might have put aside such interests, only peers with roleplaying games slowly became more numerous. I loved the way RPGs let me explore who I wanted to be when I grew up.

When I moved back to the USA to attend college I discovered science fiction cons and costuming for conventions. And then cyberpunk broke big with William Gibson, John Shirley, Bruce Sterling, and other authors who incorporated subculture and darkness and brand name reality and the sense that maybe this genre was for grown-ups after all.

Blue Blood very much came out of the scene where goth-industrial punk and science fiction fantasy horror converged. So it seems only right to have a site dedicated to erotic fandom.
